THE ADVENTURES OF SHARKMAID. DELIVERING AN E-COMMERCE WEBSITE TO A TIGHT BUDGET AND DEVELOPING GROWTH PLANS.

The Brief

When children's author, Katrina Barton, needed to launch a new book in her latest series, she turned to Diggital to redevelop and build a simple full e-commerce website and launch campaign.

 

The Approach

Diggitals first step was to get a full understanding of Katrina's needs, to get to know about her new book and her future plans. As the launch was with one initial book, and to keep costs to a minimum, we agreed on a single page site to ensure the user experience was simple and that it was easy to purchase the book. Along with the new website, launch and growth plans were developed to drive awareness of the 'Adventures of Sharkmaid' series and establish a fan base.

 

One of Katrina's passions is to give sharks a better name and help with the conservation of the species. Diggital, therefore, created compelling content to engage her fanbase using both conservation and the series. Marketing included affiliate marketing, social media, PR, email and search advertising.

 

The Result

For the launch phase of the website traffic increased by 465% whilst conversion settled at 4.7%. A phased marketing plan was introduced via social media and affiliate marketing to drive traffic to the site and grow sales, whilst a focussed PR campaign and direct sales campaign drove adoption of the book at key sales sites such as aquariums.
